Prices for hollow structural sections (HSS) in the United States continue to tick up based on mill increases, but market participants have said they are waiting until after the national Labor Day holiday – celebrated Monday September 7 – to negotiate with mills and buy.
“Anything [related to] long-term quoting has the price increase on it, and if it becomes a buy then negotiations start; but no one is really in any position to buy anything,” a tube producer said.
